Foodie: “A person that spends a keen amount of attention and energy on knowing the ingredients of food, the proper preparation of food, and finds great enjoyment in top-notch ingredients and exemplary preparation. A foodie is not necessarily a food snob, only enjoying delicacies and/or food items difficult to obtain and/or expensive food, though that is a variety of foodie.” (Urban Dictionary)
The Weight Loss Game vs. The Fat Loss Foodie Lifestyle
The weight loss game is an endless cycle of counting calories, weighing yourself, and trying to eat less and move more. Frustrated, desperate pleas at the scale like, “I stayed UNDER my calories yesterday. How did my weight go UP?!” are a part of daily life. And yet…
Weight loss experts tell us that body change is just about “calories in” vs. “calories out.”
The weight loss game attaches emotions like “good and bad” to food, and ultimately creates an unhealthy, obsessive relationship with food.
In the weight loss game, the cards are stacked against you. Food is everywhere and willpower is a quickly-exhaustible resource, but you’re supposed to just “eat less.” Right. Because that’s going to work.
The weight loss game is all about what you CAN’T HAVE and what you MUST DO. Restriction, deprivation, and punishment.
A Better Way
The Fat Loss Lifestyle (a term you’ll hear a lot in the Metabolic Effect community) is about eating more of the right foods more often. There is no list of “forbidden foods,” simply foods that are ideal for fat loss (which you want to eat more of) and foods that are less ideal (which you want to minimize and may eventually replace/eliminate over time).
We will balance your hormones FIRST, so that your caloric intake is reduced naturally, over time, without you even TRYING to cut calories.
For fat loss, we look at lifestyle factors like stress and sleep and understand that although they have no calories, they can keep your body from burning fat, and actually cause you to store it.
The Fat Loss Lifestyle is a lifelong process of learning YOU and your body, and adapting your training and nutrition accordingly. We are all as different on the inside as we are on the outside, but so many nutritionists and so called “nutrition experts” write the same cookie cutter nutrition plans and give them to ALL their clients, with no consideration given for their individual metabolism, personal preferences or lifestyle.
I am not that nutrition coach:) I guide you through the process of learning what works for YOU. I don’t write meal plans filled with precisely-measured and -weighed bland diet food that needs to be carted around in tupperware containers. With me as your nutrition coach, you will learn how to cook, eat and enjoy REAL food that makes you look and feel good:)
